Check Musiclilly for Squier blocks. I did an Affinity steel short block that worked out perfectly fine. Yeah, it was worth it for the effort & expense.

Hi! I’m a bit new here in this site. I just wanted to ask, my strat’s body has a 43mm thickness. I replaced the chrome bridge it came with with a gold one, but that gold one came with a 36mm deep full size block (just like in the photo). Is it just fine to use a short 36mm deep full size block within a 43mm thick body? Does that affect sustain or tone or anything? Thanks in advance. 😊View attachment 597888

You might need a new thread to get any attention... but see how it goes.

I upgraded the tremolo unit on my Highway 1 with a Callaham unit. I did it for a few reasons, none of which were tone related. 1st, I went with their V/N model which narrowed my string spacing from 2 7/732 to 2 1/16" 2nd, The accurate machining and harder material let the trem operate much smoother and with better return to pitch after trem use.

I am planning to replace the trem in my new CV50 strat with a $25 MIM unit from Fender. I know that blocking the trem on my Nashville tuned Bullet strat made a significant difference. I do think that the different in the block with make a noticeable difference. Even if it does not, it will make blocking it simpler to do as there will be much less space to fill.
