Squier CV 60's strat. To get or not?

I hear these are phenomenal guitars for the money and I have an opportunity to buy a CV strat for $250. Its the 60's strat in two tone sunburst with Alnico 5 pups. (My preferred pups) What are the opinions of people here? Strictly based on a playability standpoint not regarding cosmetics. I don't know what shape its in yet but now I am conflicted between getting this CV or saving up a little more for a used MIm and just swapping the pups out of it.

I would get the CV. They are not just good guitars "for the money" they are good guitars period.

From a playability and sound point of view, the MIM (IMO) is not a better guitar. Just more expensive.

Having owned two MIM's (one Hendrix and one Nasvhille Deluxe Tele) and having picked up a CV 50's in a trade, I would take the CV over an MIM standard every day of the week, especially if you're going to change the pickups in the MIM anyway. The CV pickups are great. The guitar itself is great. I just recently set the trem to float and the tuning is surprisingly stable. I would sing it's praises some more, but I don't want to sound like a shill. The gold Squier logo even grows on you.

If you like thin necks , great guitars ! I like baseball bat necks so I sold mine but it was a quality guitar .

great guitars - especially if you WANT Alnico 5! I would go w/ the CV all day if I were you

MIM plus new pickups will be much more $$ - save that $$ for other gear

Well it seems the choice is clearly for the CV Strat!! Can't believe how well liked they are! I will be picking it up in a few weeks and will be posting photos! Absolutely overwhelmed with how many people love the CV Strat. Ukoldgit yours is a beauty.

My only complaint about my CV is that the trem block is junk. It really only mattered once I decided to float the bridge. Rather than worry about minute differences in tone with a full sized block vs the small stock version, I really just want to be able to put a spring in the block under the tremolo arm so it's not flopping around. I got a Mexican Bridge assembly for 22 bucks from Amazon on the way. A lot cheaper than replacing pickups in an MIM.

OK, I'm busted. It's not 59 LP fat but it's fat by Fender Strat standards:

These are the Strat necks (in my small herd) that I have measured. The 2010 CV is "fat" compared to the other Strats I own. I keep hearing how the CV's are thin but it's probably just a bias towards thin but with a lot of variability. Oh, I recently purchased a Fender Tele and it feels similar to my MIM neck in thickness.

Numbers don't usually lie. How odd. I love the looks of this model but it's the necks (size and orange color) that keep me away. And the price. I rarely see them for under $300 and I get MIM Fenders for that.

I’ve been wanting to try one of these but none of the GC’s I go to ever have one. The tele custom looks insane with the binding on the body. I guess it comes out this September.

I have never ever ever in all of my travels and experiences EVER played a CV with a thick neck. You may have a unicorn.

They are amazing guitars and hands down the best bang for the buck deal Fender offers.The workmanship is outstanding and the body carve is very sleek and rounded...much like the old pre C.B.S. era Strats.The necks are on the thin side which is great it that is your preference.The pickups sound great too and overall these guitars are pro quality.
