I never said that either.

Where is "worthless"?"The bad one - is just an obligatory repetition of the motif."
What do you call that little electric motor on a bass boat? You know that little motor and it’s electric and it’s for going really slowly when you’re fishing? It’s got a special name that I can’t think of right now. Hmm. It’ll come to me.I don’t hear anything very interesting from Eric’s Johnson; Jeff Beck; Vai.
They are incredible guitar players and uninteresting artists and I genuinely believe that Kurt Cobain plays better solos than the above.
As should a gentleman. But some of us mature later than others and sadly must live with the reputation we inadvertantly created.A lady always considers, "Will people think less of me if I say that?"
You're not doing justice to your namesake.
That reminds me of a certain solo, I call "ragged but right". It is session musician, J. Page on Joe Cocker's version of Bye Bye Blackbird: solo begins at about 1:35; but you should listen from the start to truly appreciate it in the sense @Della Street spoke of.Good solo adds value. If the melody is already established somehow - vocals or the keys - the guitar should try and contribute a new twist and flavor.
I guess you’ve never listened to Jeff beck huh?Example, please.
Now, there is some sense.Why….because I’m resting my vocal cords and using my guitar as a voice.
I guess you’ve never listened to Jeff beck huh?
Wrong thread? From the OP: "[A] Guitar solo is not standalone music." and, "A lone man with guitar is not what I’m talking about."That's not unaccompanied 'solo' guitar as discussed.
I interpret that as, "A solo guitar is not standalone music", which has been proven wrong in this thread.Wrong thread? From the OP: "[A] Guitar solo is not standalone music." and, "A lone man with guitar is not what I’m talking about."
Not “solo guitar”. It was a “guitar solo” - as in Sweet child of mine. That’s one example of a good one. So good, in fact, that one could whistle it in an absentminded moment. That’s crossing into standalone music territory. Oh, never mind…I interpret that as, "A solo guitar is not standalone music", which has been proven wrong in this thread.
I think I understood, just didn't express it well. Not “solo guitar”. It was a “guitar solo” - as in Sweet child of mine. That’s one example of a good one. So good, in fact, that one could whistle it in an absentminded moment. That’s crossing into standalone music territory. Oh, never mind…
I myself understood nothing. Was just musing, you see... cautiously putting forth timid and tentative notions.I think I understood, just didn't express it well.
Like an unaccompanied Stairway To Heaven solo?
I never know what's going on.I myself understood nothing. Was just musing, you see... cautiously putting forth timid and tentative notions.
Even though so many here are feigning ignorance, but it is a fact universally acknowledged: practically every song has a guitar solo.
I was just feebly threading some thoughts... solo is the part of the song... does the solo need the song more or is it the other way... since the solos are there anyway, what do they do to make songs better... and if solo is a guitar commentary on the song, wouldn't it be better for each player to do his own commentary instead of parroting others...
Della hate is self-perpetuating vehicle by now, I understand. I asked for it.
