Cool and quirky looking.
What's the circuit?
I'm not familiar with the 5879 tube.
The 5879 is a pentode designed for audio. I usually drive one in a distortion channel, but not here.
The amp is two channels, one triode based (12AX7), and the other using the pentode. They're selectable individually or in parallel and are then sent to the FX loop. The FX loop uses a 12DW7, the output of which goes to the P.I. (12AT7). The reverb is an EF-80 driven short tank with a 12AX7 recovery triode. It gets signal from the loop output. It's output goes to the P.I. non-inverting input. The P.I. then feeds a cathode biased push pull pair of EL84's with no feedback. That pushes the 12" Weber Blue Dog.
I wanted to keep it smallish for my grandson. At ten he's not up to carrying a Super Reverb yet.
It's a lot in a small box though. Especially since I do point to point and use large components. To make it fit i had to make compromises. No room for a tube rectifier, or metalized foil caps throughout the power supply.
Still, it's light-years ahead of my first amp, and many after.
