I do that. Works great.
Hello, I recently learned how to re-string guitar and I was wondering if the way I do it is a perfectly good way.
I lock the string like this..

Anyone else have success with this method or is it wrong?
That method is pretty popular. I don't lock ny stringas at all on any guitar and have no tuning issues.

I use a little variation of that. Instead of coming under the string & folding over I go over the string and fold under. It's really reduced how much the string ends get snagged up on a gig bag
Also, I don't measure the slack, still seem to work fine. Is it mandatory to measure the slack?

There's two things you don't get told when you start learning guitar: one is that you will be afflicted with GAS forever, the other is that it's more or less impossible to change strings with stabbing yourself.Working well for me so far, apart from stabbing my finger on the end of string, ouch!

I used to lock my strings like that, but I stopped when I realised it made it harder to get off again. Neither way made any difference to tuning stability, as far as I could tell. As for measuring the slack, I tend to try and give all the strings roughly the same amount of slack before I start winding. Whether it makes any difference, I don't know, but I think the more slack I use, the more windings I end up with around the tuner post.
If your guitars work fine, there's nothing wrong with your stringing method.
