It has some pretty good presets that you can tweak. This was one called Farfisa boost.

It just dirties stuff up enough. It's a good plugin.

Turns out I had it and never figured out what it was good at. I probably tried it on the main stereo out and didn’t love it. I just tried it on the drum buss of my current WIP, and found out THAT’S what it’s good at. This track has a cymbal-ride jazz thing going on the drums, and the Aphex Vintage Exciter plug brought it right up front. I’ll have to try it on other individual tracks, just to see.

Thanks David. I tried to keep it as simple as possible. I love Steve Nieve's work with Costello, but he dishes out a more complicated recipe.
