Sometime last week logged on to my PC. 'You can upgrade to Windows 11 for free'. No thanks. Logged on the next day. 'You can upgrade to Windows 11 for free'. No thanks. 'Are you sure?'. No thanks. Logged on yesterday. 'You can upgrade to Windows 11 for free'. No thanks. 'Are you sure? No thanks. ' It's not much different to Windows 10'. No thanks. Logged on just now. 'You can upgrade to Windows 11 for free'. No thanks. 'Are you sure?'. No thanks. 'It's not much different to Windows 10'. No thanks. ''You can do all this' NO THANKS, LEAVE ME BE, I DON'T WANT IT. If I log on tomorrow and get the same crap I'm gonna be going MAC!
Used to be a huge windows evangelist for years but got really fed up with the horseschytt that it had turned into ever since the introduction of 8. Got so sick and tired of all the problems. Switched to Mac six years ago and never looked back. Try it. I think you’ll like it

My kingdom for a third or fourth option. I miss Silicon Graphics/IRIX.

Don't know what my son did, but he went into the nether regions and told windows to stop it, that no means no . It did.

Wish he could work the same magic with my samsung tablet.

As for mac...
oh god am I glad to be free of that cult...
LOL
I do that for my parents. I'm 56 soon, and I can't remember exactly what I did, but...
Thing is, I'm sure W11 is all good, relatively speaking, butit looks a bit different, which can be a crippler for my 80 yo Dad and 76 yo Mum. So, 'we' keep them on familiar ground.
Not a problem for my Dad, since his MB is incompatible with W11, anyway, so he doesn't get nagged about it.
Occasionally, my Mum gets the nags - she probably clicked something she shouldn't have. Anyway, it's not difficult to put right - @Wrighty I'll be back when I've found the instructions.

EDIT: I think, I followed the 'Registry Editor' instructions from this (or similar) website - scroll down the page a bit.

Read it carefully a couple of times, before you make a decision. It's easy to do, but equally, it's an area of the computer that one wrong move can cause chaos.
If you're on Windows 10 Pro., there's a much easier and less risky way of sorting it out.

Use it on my iPad and iPhone but hesitant to ditch my PC, which I've used for years. Also, a MAC is an expensive piece of kit and, for the relatively little use it would get, it's hard to justify.

Microsoft have messed up every 2nd version of windows since 95.

Win 95 = Muck
Win 98 = Great
Win Millennium = Muck (Not win 2000 which was fine)
Win XP = Great
Win Vista = Absolute Muck
Win 7 = Great
Win 8 = Doggie doo
Win 10 = Great

So I wasn't holding out much hope for 11. But it does seem mostly fine. Once you get around unrestricting the narrow taskbar and removing all the rubbish. (Unnessesary search and news feed stuff)

Windows NT and Win 2000 were the separate "pro" OS from MS.

They were unified in Win XP which had a "home" and a "pro" version

Win NT existed at the time of 95/98 and was very robust as was 2000 Which lived at the same time as "Windows millennium" which many people have managed to block out of their memory :)

Xubuntu.... Free operating System with tons of free software downloads, programs for almost any application, great easily customizable desktop, not so many updates, and drivers for all your hardware (Finds them when you install). You always have a choice to update or not to update. I have never had a Ubuntu crash and I have been using it for years. I use it as my main OS, but on some machines I even have a triple OS boot, Xubuntu, Win 7, and Win XP. Most of my machines run Xubuntu & Win 10.
