Part of being a mechanic of any kind is sometimes making the tools.I knew it was a tool, and not a part!

Well, anybody can see it’s a modified Fremson fixture, although the use of the asymmetrical barging spring could be confusing to some. It should work great for it’s intended purpose, as long as you remember to keep the Carling off-set constant through the whole process, otherwise you risk perfoloning the master ribs, but that can be overcome in the final coralization with the proper set-up, unless you want to just do it manually. Either way, nice tool!

I taped the nail file to my work bench and used it to start the notch. Once I got the notch depth I used that as a guide for my precision router and widened the first notch then cut the other three on a fret rocker. What'd you use to make it? A notched straight edge from Neck Check?
That would be nice! We used to send the noobs on construction to get the board stretcher all the time. Then we would to send them to get the hole stretcherand they would laugh at us until we showed them we actually had one, but they called it a saw.Wood stretcher.

Next was to cut the file into pieces that will fit into the slots and epoxy them in place (the step I am on now). Finally, I will file the sharp edges off of the cut pieces of nail file so I don't damage a guitar or my fingers.
If Stewmac was making these by hand every time,I could see why they would charge over $100a piece. Having them manufactured in bulk then charging the same price I think is a bit ridiculous unless they are getting charged $30 to $40s piece themselves and have to cover their own overhead. I'm not seeing that as these are petty small. They just have the patent so they have the market cornered for a while.
Yes, that fret rocker is from Neck Check. If memory serves me, I bought it from them about 7 years ago on evilBay. The earlier this week I got a set of 6 diamond nail files from Scamazon.Nice. Where'd the material come from? Does Neck Check sell a fret checker like that? And then you machined the places for the file?
