I just have one acoustic with a button, and that is where it is. It doesn't get in the way of anything during playing or transportation, and it is a strong location.

If it’s an electric jazz box, most likely 2. For an acoustic I use 5, because that works the best for me. It is more secure, the strap doesn’t want to come of the button during normal play there.

Except that I like to put a felt ring under mine if it doesn't have one.

Me neither... strap tied around headstock on my old acoustic.

My most recent Jumbo has #5.....still have to try it with a strap though.
