For some reason I found myself on the Thomann site and before I knew it a Surf Green Harley Benton TE-62CC is on it's way to my house. Like this one. $217 shipped.

Way cool score. I might be getting a new 200 dollar guitar. In a couple of days. We cannot be responsible for any bargain purchases while afflicted with GAS.

My son is Stationed in Germany for the next couple of years. I will have him pick up an HB and have it sent with his household goods and his three guitars.

I’ve had the blue TE-62CC and the Black TE-62DB.

Pickups are matter of taste. I never liked those Roswells. The rest is fine. Tuners work but can get stuck.

The worst point worth addressing are the neck holes and those HB neck screws. If you compare them to the Fender screws you will notice HB screws cut deeper into the sides of the hole. This ok on normal maple but in this brittle roasted maple those deeper screw grooves will fall off if you unscrew the neck. It happened on two screws after unscrewing the neck the very first time. I needed to put in a few toothpicks to strengthen the contact again.

So my tip is; take off the neck. Glue in or just put in one extra toothpick. Otherwise I would be nervous to bend the neck.

Woke up early and decided to get on it. New strings and the brass compensated saddle I had picked up in a parts lot. Not sure they’re any better but they look nice.
