This was what I had when I started out in high school. I remember not knowing how to “make that rock sound” back then. I didn’t know what distortion was. A buddy of mine gave me a DS-1, that was my first pedal. But for months, it was just these:

I had a Gorilla Amp that was fun to play through. Then I got an Ibanez Flanger and had a blast. The Flanger was stolen about a year after I got it.
Amp.has been lost after several moves.

Way out west
A vacuum-formed plastic guitar, with plastic friction tuners, plastic frets, and and a tiny plastic amplifier with an attached button mic that stuck to the guitar with a suction cup. My dad, a notorious skinflint, told me if I learned to play it, we’d see about something better.

You're gonna laugh at this one.. Back in the mid 70's my first guitar was a Hohner Tele copy and I used my dad's old (1960's old) Akai reel to reel tape deck that had a tube pre and power amp and speakers on the top. It sounded like 4 big muffs wired in series when the input gain was cranked. It was soooo nasty. For my wah sound I'd plug the headphones in and put my foot over one of the cups and raise and lower it. Ahh the good old days.... 1686027695993.png

That’s actually pretty cool!

I meant guitar, but that’s still awesome. I had a Yamaha tenor sax when I was a kid too. I knew how to play that before guitar
My first guitar is the classical. But I wasn't permitted until I had demonstrated an aptitude for music, as evidenced by the assortment of instruments that marked my journey.

Except the accordion. That thing met with an untimely end (though I thought it extremely timely). It fell into a lake. Totally by accident and not on purpose.

I started playing in 1983. My first guitar of any kind was an Ibanez RS100. And I had a Peavey Decade amp.

Almost immediately after I got it, like within a couple of months, I got a cheap Classical guitar with a cardboard case.

First song I learned was this…

And the first piece I learned on the Classical was this…And yes I learned the intro via sheet music.
