Volume knob - does it affect sound?

Turn it clockwise, the sound gets more. Turn it the unver way and it gets less innit?

I either get a bloody awful distorted sound that everyone can hear, or a really nice clean sound that even I can barely hear.

A volume knob causes more problems than it solves.

I'm pretty sure the volume knob has zero effect on your tone/sound/signal... however, the potentiometer it is most likely attached to is a different story.

Never turn a volume knob up past "0" if you're not a good player. That's the only safe way to avoid guffaws and other manners of ridicule from insensitive listeners.

Rolling back the Volume does not affect the frequency. However, it does affect how you hear the frequencies since how we perceive frequencies and volume. (lower volumes sound more bassy to us)

What the treble bleed does is basically a reduces the amount of treble that gets rolled off as you turn down the volume (which is effectively just a voltage divider) so more high frequencies "pass" through the cap. Which effectively creates a resonance peak.

It's important to note that it changes the frequency response of the circuit as you roll it down which in turn, is affected which what pickups you are using and what their unloaded resonant peak is.

I've read conflicting reports about whether the volume knob has a noticeable impact on sound. Some claim that turning a volume knob vs not turning a volume knob have different sounds and I'm wondering if this is true. What do you think?
Yes...turning it makes the guitar louder, or quieter.
