A couple of pictures of my latest project.

I have always liked the specs on the Stevie ray Vaughn signature neck but am not that fond of the the reverse tremolo and gold hardware on that guitar.

So I bought a neck from a parted out 1992 SRV guitar on ebay and made my own take on his ”red” strat by pairing the neck with an old Fender 62 usa replacement body (from year 2000).
Both the neck and the body have a nice worn finish as well.

I had a couple of old pickguards that I tried out. Which one do you think looks best? I opted for the standard white 62 model in the end.

I wired the pickups (Fender pure vintage 59) with CTS pots and CRL switch. I really like these pickups, and the fact that they are 59 spec’d is a nice nod to Stevie. If I am not mistaken, he used 59 pickups on his Number 1.

Hope you like the end result!

Nice project! I'd try a mildly mint green pick guard. When the green isn't too pronounced, it can give the whole guitar a kinda dinghy, smoky bar look!

Yes, I like that look as well. I have been researching online where to buy a relic mint pickguard. But the ones that look good are quite expensive.

Yeah, parchment and/or aged cream/white don't give that "smokey look and many of the "mint green" ones tend to be way too green. Although the red body color may soften the green a bit! The color on this Fender branded one doesn't look too bad in pics, but………….

I've had fair luck with the IKN brand, as far as being drilled correctly and the colors seem to match the pics fairly well. Reasonably priced too!
