Hey everybody, first time posting on the site.

I've been looking out for an Arctic White Squier Stratocaster on the second hand market and will probably end up with a bullet until I can afford a classic vibe etc.
Arctic white body, maple fretboard and H/S/S pickup config would have been first prize but I've noticed such variations are hard to find, at least where I live here in the Western Cape of South Africa.

Anyway long story short I've spotted a bullet strat on Facebook marketplace about an hours drive away, but noticed the serial number behind the headstock featured a 'G' before the numbers began which I found to be inconsistent with other variations of Squier serial numbers unless I might be missing something.

So before I go ahead and negotiate with the seller, I was wondering if anybody could take a look at the photos I've uploaded and confirm if this might be a fake Squier or perhaps just a new serial number format possibly from a recent production line?

Any thoughts on this will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Tiger.

My observations tell me they changed the numbering system slightly with the Indonesian models (contrary to what is written on all those serial webpages).

The letter before the two digits of the year now shows the month of production:
I have a Classic Vibe here that has a serial starting with ISSJ21...
When I took off the neck I found a sticker that had a date on it (October, 18th).
Another neck has a sticker from April and the serial says ISSD21...

So, in your case, the guitar should have been built in July 2020.
