If you were to solo and noodle through this, would you do it in A, as suggested to me in the past.......of as I just discovered F#?

I'm so confused.

Heading to work, will check in when I can.......thanks in advance

If you are careful you can play both A Major and A minor pentatonic over this song. As long as you don't catch a note that is discordant with the chord being played at the time. You can squeeze in a few diminished runs and of course the full A Major scale.

Some of the heavy hitters in theory on here can explain how and why much better than me. They will be able to fit all 12 notes, in and a few bendy ones in between, as they will know what target notes to hit at the right time (basically any chord tones) and which to use only as "passing notes"

It's a cracking tune that has some excellent tension and release in it. Seems so simple but is it? Not really.

It’s in A, using the A major pentatonic scale (well, mostly), which is the same notes as the F# minor pentatonic so you’ve got the right idea.
That makes all the sense now. I think I'll keep my soloing in the F#m. Sounded so much more "in flow" with the intro licks! Cheers!

100% mate. I recall as a kid reading an article in a guitar mag, somebody saying how harder it is to play slow, than it is fast. I thought "daftie!". But it's so true!
