It was local, cost £16, and all I know (apart from it was a gift to the seller from her father 20 plus years ago) is Rosetti imported/ distributed (and didn't build) guitars, so some further homework is needed.

They were known to import and re badge Egmonds as lucky 7's but Google isn't helping out much right now with that at the moment, so if you can chip in here....please do!

All I know is that Rossetti used to be the main distributor of Gibson for the UK

Yeah apparently the partnership broke down because rosetti were selling B stock Gibsons at full price....so the story goes!
I cannot attest to that, but I did have to go through Rosetti for an SG special I had that the fretboard started delaminating on.
Wasn't a pleasant customer care experience.

£16 felt like a bargain at the start of this thread.....not so much now 😂

Just need to correct something from the first post....it appears I was wrong saying the sides were laminate....just taken a torch to this rosetti and the light can be seen inside/ through the wood (and the grain can now be seen more clearly running from outside to in.)

Cool guitar electgumbo.....is it really small, or are the strats it's laying on really big 🤔 😁

Yes as you say Rosetti imported Egmonds and rebadged them for the UK Market up to the very early 80's when Egmond went bankrupt.
@JMCUK
I thought Martin bought them and shut them down?

Martin went into a Co-op with Egmond to make the Vega line of Martins but the Co-op broke down in the late 70's. Egmond then went on to make and sell them as the Alpha line on their own.

A guy in Canada bought the Egmond brand name when they went bankrupt and was going to rekindle the name, but he died and that was that.

Just to note....I'm not an authority on any of the above! I only learnt this history over the last week or so trying to trace the origins of my Rosetti!

Same here I’ve only had the Typhoon for a few weeks. My British friend and forum member @simoncroft helped me with some background of it. Maybe he’ll comment on yours. Lots of the British greats played Rosetti’s in there youth…

Would be great to hear from him if he can help!

After going all Columbo on this Rosetti I'm leaning towards it coming out of the Samick Inonesia factory (they have used/ modified the headstock shape several times, the Greg Bennet being one example).

I'm also thinking it's a small batch parts bin/ B stock chop shop run. I cant see how or why else they'd produce an all solid budget priced (assumpion) guitar. The three different woods used in the neck kinda lean towards this theory being reasonable too in my mind.

Either way it matters not, it sounds great, but the fact I cannot find anything at all on the web about this guitar is frustrating.....
