I just picked up this 2009 Epiphone Les Paul Custom for $300 AUD.

It plays pretty well. It just needs some new strings and a clean.

I picked up one of those Epi 1955 Customs with the P90s and it's a pretty nice guitar. Put a staple pickup in the neck, all US electronics, installed ABR 1, and buffed out the satin finish.

How did the buffing go and what was your process? Any completed photos?

I started out with a little rubbing compound, then polishing compound, then some mirror glaze polish. I took my time and did a section at a time. It came out very good with a nice gloss although there is some minor orange peel that's not coming off without more drastic measures.

It has a bit of paint missing from the back of the neck. I think that's how I got it so cheap.

Staple pickup? Who makes those? Only ones I've see are the Ron Thorn stapletops.

As much as I love my Les Paul standard, I feel like I need a black custom. Congrats !
