Bought an st72 in all black with rosewood fretboard. Goes great with my all black hardtail st62! Kind of an acquired taste, as is the 70´s aesthetics! This one has a pretty thick neck that also feels wide in the hand. Often the st71 and st72 have thinner necks with what feels as a narrow nut.

The 72 is a great guitar. Really a 1st generation Squire with a different decal. Nice find. Just like the white '85 Squire I had.

Beautiful. In 1972, when I was 13 years old, I bought a brand new black strat with money I saved up. It cost $205, which was a huge amount of money at the time. Got it because Clapton played one. I really loved that guitar and wish I hadn’t sold her. I finall got another black strat (a 2019 EJ) a few years ago and I just love the way it looks, sounds, and plays.

From the looks of it, you’ve got a problem; Stratadiction. Lol. Well, it’s better than most addictions. Nice collection.

HNGD. Looks like a beaut.

I was in a band with a guy in the early 80s who had a black 70s strat very like that. Wasn't a fan at the time but I'm guessing if I could find it now I'd be all over it.

He disappeared for many years and re appeared in the 90s where he ended up playing bass in a band I was in then vanished for good around 2000.

Strat was already long gone in the 90s.

Since I bought an Affinity bass in all black I’ve fallen for all black guitars in a big way. Put a black guard on my bkackTele and resprayed my 12 string (cheap kit) in black and fitted too with a black plate. Been gassing for a Strat or Tele with humbuckers for a while, it’ll be black. Yours looks great 😀

PS. I like black guitars, I’ve got BGAS!
