I recently picked up a Sterling Ray34 and it's really changed the way I play bass. Prior to owning a bass with only a single H pickup in the bridge position, I never spent much time playing in that area. Yes, I do own a Jazz bass but never really felt inspired by the bridge pup. I would always make my J bass sound like a mixed P. Recently after exclusively playing my Stingray for a few weeks I decided to play my Jazz bass and found that I appreciate the bridge pup. I am handling my Jazz bass in a way I never have before, things got funkier.
