I'm thinking about doing one more S-type build even though I really don't need any more guitars and my old fingers are getting so stiff that it may be a difficult task. I have in mind building a new HARDTAIL S-Type (I already have 2 of them and love 'em), but I am stuck on what color of body to use. I have been thinking of metallic Red, Orange, Sea Foam Green, Sonic Blue, White, Silver, Sienna Burst, etc. (mostly all very close to Fender colors). That's a wide ranging choice to make (I'm not wanting to do a custom paint job either) so let's hear some suggestions for colors you folks could suggest. (I know, I just opened pandora's box)!!! Be kind!

What Color guitars do you have already?

I've put together a number of Partscasters this year and always went with whatever (MJT-slight relic) body was on ebay, at a good price, and not too heavy. But I've always been partial to an ala-natural look with a nice stain. That Assumes you have a nice-looking body.

So my #1 is an Ash body with a slightly dark wood stain, a roasted Maple Warmoth neck, and a set of X-1 pickups that I took out a 1980 Strat (which will be part of my next build) . The others (Sunburst, blue-Silver, turquoise) all play and sound great, but I just love the way the stained wood pairs with a roasted maple neck.

I have a LOT of Strats and Teles and their color mix is extensive (Midnight Wine, CAR, Fiesta Red, Graffitti Yellow, British Racing Green, Purple, Burgandy mist, Bursts, Several shades of Blue, Amber tinted clear, etc. I like the "shock" colors like Graffitti Yellow, but think I might like to try something a little more subdued like seafoam green, or on the more dramatic side, Orange. Decisions decisions!

Yeah, the lighter, more "orangy" shade.

I love faded Sonic Blue with MG pickguard... Here is one I am getting tomorrow from Dustin at BloomDoom guitars. I am "cheating" on this one, because (1) it is too cold to spray nitrocellulose outside and (2) I am never completely happy with my solid color efforts (as opposed to my shellac guitars). I do not like poly at all (which ruled out Warmoth), so I contracted Dustin to make me the faded Sonic Blue Strat body that you see below. I am in love!!! Plus--super nice guy... I will post the finished guitar on another thread. All the best! LJM.

Red, Orange, Sea Foam Green, Sonic Blue, White, Silver, Sienna Burst, etc.
i'm afraid i won't be of much help as all these are good.
if i were forced to parse, i'd probably start by rejecting as follows:
Silver - good color, but it often doesn't show up as it needs pretty particular lighting to shine. it might end up looking gray most of the time.
Sienna Burst - excellent choice, but this will be one very expensive body if you want good execution.
Red - which red?
Daphne Blue would make @Stratafied very happy.

Orange is the new black. Go sonic blue or sea foam green.

I'm finding it tough to locate a hardtail S-Type body in a color that I would want to use. I could order one specially made like at Warmoth or something, but I'm trying to really keep the cost down on this thing. Has anyone here ever owned a guitar with a body made of Palownia Wood? Eden Allen sells them, but when I google Pawlonia wood I find that it is quite soft and easily dented or scrtached. It's a lot harder than Balsa wood, but not up there with Alder, Ash, and the other more common body woods. Anybody ever used this wood for the body of a build or owned a solid body guitar made from Pawlonia Wood?
