I've never been to a (rock/guitar) live-show and my soul is craving to visit one - where and how do I start?

Hey guys!

I just randomly scrolled on YouTube and found this cover - , and WOW. The tone at 1:53 spoke to my soul and I got the intense craving that I must see such playing live, on huge-ass speakers as I've never been to a live show.
The problem is that I'm a "regular guy playing my strat in an apartment" who has no idea about good, current 60's inspired rock bands touring and don't really know where to start. I've never been to live shows nor festivals.

Would love any tips on where to start! Haha, it sounds so darn silly, but my girlfriend isn't a fan of 60's rock and neither are my friends, so I guess I'll have to get out of my shell and visit a show on my own.

Cheers guys, haven't been on the forums in a while, hope I'm posting in the correct channel :)

luckily for me the music scene local to me is big. When I still lived in the city walking the dog on the weekend you would come across all kinds of originals and cover tribute bands. Live music is a beautiful thing especially if you find something that really stirs up your senses.

I do highly recommend wandering out seeking the tunes you are gravitating to. I also met a lot of folks to jam with that have similar taste in music.

Will definitely do! I live in a pretty large city so there are probably numerous bands playing, I'm just not the guy who goes into clubs like that usually. 2023 is the year to stir things up so why not :)

Go to your favorite artists websites and check their touring schedule(s). Find a show that is close enough and purchase two tickets. Go through your list of friends and see who wants to go. The free ticket is incentive.

Govt mule is always a good time.

I've enjoyed everything from prince to megadeth to white zombie to primus.

It helps to seek out the bands that play stuff you are into.

For me it's really anything with overdriven guitars. THAT is the sound of rock and roll!

Very recently went to a classic albums live show for Abbey Road, it wasn't like a dedicated copycat kind of thing, but more some very good musicians who do a classic album without the elaborate staging and costuming like BritFloyd.

After the show I realized I'd only heard 3 or those songs done live before, the 1st was "Come Together" as done by Aerosmith in the 90's and the two Harrison songs "Here Comes the Sun" and "Something" as done by George himself back in the seventies.

Keep your eyes open for something like that, usually the bands are well rehearsed and also play the music they love listening to

most of the old acts are done nowadays but if you get a chance to see Phish, check it out.

after 30+ years of touring, they put on as awesome a rock event as anyone
I second this. I hadn't seen them since the 90s and took my kids and My buddy took his wife and kids and we made a weekend out of it in Bethel Woods over the summer. Everyone had a blast and damn they still got it.
