There’s some setup to it, but as I said above, it’s very close… use all 5 springs and of course you need good tuners… even with kluson’s, not bad.. all 6 of my strats work very well… so it can
Once in a while G goes slightly flat, just lift up and it goes right back
Hunh. I *never* use all 5 springs. Come to think of it, I've never had a guitar with five springs.

A Fender trem benefits from the fact that most Fender-style headstocks are fairly straight-pull and strings don't get snagged by the nut every often. Tuners are rarely an issue; almost anything works.

True, but it doesn’t hurt. Spring memory is what keeps it in tune… that’s why the larger diameter springs with better material holds tune so much better… the 5 springs does that and adds resonance and tone. I have one guitar with 3, it just seem to work better that way

I’ve seen questionable unlicensed FR’s over the years. At least that’s what they appeared to be

The original FR patents must have long expired, so as long as the FR trademark is not used I expect anyone can make an FR-type bridge, without the need for any licencing arrangement.

What I am asking is if anyone has come across a fake FR-badged bridge.
