Mercifully, ahem, death from hypothermia would have happened in 2 to 3 minutes at those temperatures.I
I just looked it up. Sea Temps that night in that area were reported to be 28 degrees Fahrenheit.

Some believe it was the sisrer ship Olympic that sank after it had been swapped out for Titanic in some mad insurance scam.
That's an old legend, widely debunked. Some believe it was the sisrer ship Olympic that sank after it had been swapped out for Titanic in some mad insurance scam.
Agreed, but as with most disasters, we Brits, especially, deal with such things with a lot of gallows humor. Before we have too much of a laugh about all this, we should remember that around 1500 people died when Titanic sank. Not exactly the funniest news story ever.
Actually, most people would have their backs to the sinking ship taking a selfie with the Titanic as the background
There are reliable reports of some surviving much longer. That link I posted above was quite the read if all accurate. Short answer: it depends.Mercifully, ahem, death from hypothermia would have happened in 2 to 3 minutes at those temperatures.
Yes, so I gathered..Well, YEAH..... IT HIT AN ICEBERG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
According to James Cameron's 1997 Titanic movie, at least, they did call out for help - The communications officer sent a message, and the nearest ship was something like 4 hours away. They also apparently had mortar fireworks they set off, but those may have been hard to see from ships far enough away.Surely, no one would call for help…
I dont argue that it's not possible some well insulated (naturally or by clothing) may have. There are reliable reports of some surviving much longer. That link I posted above was quite the read if all accurate. Short answer: it depends.
The Wiki on that notes it in some detail: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titanic#SinkingAccording to James Cameron's 1997 Titanic movie, at least, they did call out for help - The communications officer sent a message, and the nearest ship was something like 4 hours away. Too soon? Before we have too much of a laugh about all this, we should remember that around 1500 people died when Titanic sank. Not exactly the funniest news story ever.
Yeah, it’s only been 110 years…Too soon?
