I repaired a 40 in led TV by replacing a LED strip in it but it only worked for 2 hours then it blew another LED so i binned the tv guessing that the LED power source had gone over voltage .

I repair them pretty regularly. Don't just change the LED strips till you verify the voltage source is correct.

Which brands?
At work we have about 40 sets operational and toss 4-6 each year.
Replacemnts are whatever brand is in stock and the right size, so Sony, LG, Sanyo, Toshiba and all the rest.
Never even considered getting old 21st C TV sets fixed.

Samsung, Toshiba, Sony, Philips, just about any brand. The parts sell on ebay. I buy used boards there a lot. Been lucky with not a bad experience yet. I keep a lot of good used boards also, especially T-con, and power supply/mainboards. I'm talking about larger LED TVs. There are still people who pay to get them fixed. It will dry up at some point, sooner rather than later, I'm sure, but I fix anything electronic if I can get parts and schematics. And so many are just bad caps.
