How much should a 2008 AVRI ‘62 Strat cost?

It’s easy with reverb to get a idea with something like this and sold prices. I picked 90’s 00’ and 2010’s 62 strat and sold listings in the filter. Leaves all the guessing out. Average is in the $2000 range. As low as $1300 to $3000 depending on condition and colour.

Online. So taxes, shipping, fees etc. But it turned out alright. It was a nice guitar but I couldn't get along with the "slim C" neck profile. I'm a big neck guy.

When I sold about 5 or 6 guitars about 1.5-2 years ago, it cost about $150 in fees (about $85) and shipping (about $65) to sell a $1200-$1500 guitar. And there wasn’t tax always added. How much does it cost the seller these days?

The prices seem to vary widely on AVRIs, and I think it might be because they had different specs in different years. Just a guess. For a 2008 sea foam green (edit: surf green) in great condition no nicks or major scratches with the original brown Tolex case. It has been given the 5-way switch that it came with. No other mods. They have synthetic bone nuts. 7.25 in. radius. And, no tone control for the bridge pickup, which is actually period correct. What would be a fair price range?

(1982-1984) 62AVRI - thinnest necks of all AVRIs, great builds, great pickups. Expensive due to rarity. (Not actually particularly vintage accurate neck shape)
(1985-1998) 62 AVRI - similar to above but neck becomes slightly wider, pickups change slightly (still called 57/62 pickups)
(1998-2012 62 AVRI - some period detail fixed like the 12th dot markers moved wider apart. Not huge changes.

(1982-1984) 57AVRI - thinnest V shape necks of all AVRIs, great builds, great pickups (same as 62). Expensive due to rarity.
(1985-2012) 57 AVRI - same type of changes as 62 above - becomes more vintage accurate after 1998

2013 brought in 56,59,65 American Vintage reissues. All are more vintage accurate in the small detail overall. They have their own pickups for each year rather than sharing one set like the 57/62

56 Vintage accurate chunky maple neck.

59 thinnest of new necks "D shape" but tapers wider around 12th fret than early 62 AVRI (slab rosewood or maple neck models with slightly different small details on each model as it was the transition year from maple to rosewood)

65 bit thicker "D shape"neck than 59 (Rosewood only)

OK... roughly from memory (so there may be a mistake or two)...
1982 offered three different pickups (red bobbin, gray bobbin, black bobbin (blacks were used from 1982-1998).
1982-83 only sunburst was offered (IIRC)
1985 Fender is sold and production moved from Fullerton to Corona- body contours changed- headstock shape changed (IIRC)
1982-1989 had four body dowels- so apparently there was a tooling change in 1989/90
I don't think there was much change in neck profiles from 1982-1998. They were slim with almost no taper.

1998/99- another change in facility and new tooling. As mentioned, the neck dots wider and necks get a little fuller (with taper). These models were closer to original 57s and 62s, but not as good as the post 2012 models (54, 56, 59s)
1998/99- pickups change (same name. Original 57/62), but different winding coatings (purplish enamel coating changes to orangeish Formvar coating

2012- 57s & 62s end production and get replaced by the American Vintage series (56, 59, 65 AVs)

The chunky necks are the best imo, and I do think people,look for those. sidk color, not a huge fan of 7.25”:radius myself but can’t win them all. I think the hot rod AVRI’s have a flatter radius and thick ass necks, is that info on point anyone?
in this market , vinteras at 1150 or plus new, I can’t see how that’s not near 2k. I’m by no means a pro At fender pricing. but sweet whip!

Fat neck all day, is it the avri hot rods that’s re super fat? And flatter radius..
I straight up bought a 1” 1st-12th heel truss, vintage looking SRO-fat and finished it in nitro and it’s the best

Yes, they are very different. Post 2012s are the closest "reissues" Fender made to the originals. Which is more desirable- hard to say. I have a couple Corona thin neck guitars and I love them, but I have some 59 AVs (with custom hardtail bodies) that are really amazing. There are markets and fans for each series. That being said, the most monetarily valuable series in the first Fullerton series of 1982-1985/6, with 1982s probably bringing the most money.

Naming the series is another topic altogether.
There are a few threads about the naming...
From (my poor) memory:
1982-1986ish had some super simple name like Vintage Stratocaster
then came the U.S. Vintage series.
Around 1998 (IIRC) came the American Vintage series, with a few years between 2007 and 2012 being the American Vintage Reissue series. Post 2012 were simply American Vintage (again).

That's compounded by Fender being inconsistent with the use of "American Vintage" vs. "American Vintage Reissue" across their marketing materials between 1998-2012 - sometimes even within the same document.

Fender actually starts using the name "American Vintage" in the January 1998 price list - but they are applying that name to the previous generation model; they don't release the updated 2nd generation models until mid-year 1998.

Yeah. The hot rods have the big neck profile. Those are great.

Ends up being a 150-200 dollar adventure by the time your done. Depends on the final selling cost. But on average thats what I expect to pay.

There is a feature on Reverb, where you can see a chart of past sales, the asking prices, and the final sale prices. I don’t see that option for the AVRIs.

Can you share how to get that data on reverb please? I think I've only see the chart that shows prices paid (?) with the month sold, but haven't seen the corresponding listed price by item.
