Hey everyone!

This is my first post here so I apologize if I've miscategorized this thread. I'm looking into getting a Mini Strat, modding it and replacing essentially all of the hardware and electronics. I've already decided on new tuners, saddles, and replacing the pickups with the Lace Active SSS ones. However, I want to know whether you guys think that there's space to add a second tone knob. I know it's a smaller scale guitar, and I'm not too sure about how different in size the body is compared to a regular strat. If there isn't space for a second tone knob, do you guys know whether I can replace the existing tone knob with push-pull pot to emulate a 7-way? I'm new to modding as well, so there's a chance I could just let a professional take over the actual work. Just trying to understand what I'm actually able to request.

Thanks!

It's pretty tight in there, I had one that I was going to out a humbucker and 2 full size pots.
It was a swimming pool route so there was room for the humbucker and the tone pot, but the volume pot was about 1/8" too close to the body.
I ended up selling the pieces as part a a larger lot. Too many other projects

Is the ultimate goal to have a short scale Strat, or you want the smaller body?
Would a slightly larger body be a good option?

Reason I ask is on the Squier-Mini, the measurement from the bridge to the neck pocket is the same as a standard Strat.
The body is downsized, so it's too tight for the full control setup.

However, you could take the neck from a Squier mini and put it on a standard Strat body and have the short scale.
Or you could put it on a 7/8 size "Dinky" body (Jackson Dinky and G&L Climax were 7/8 size) and have both a short scale and the smaller body.

I wouldn't recommend changing the tuners, they are high quality D shaped sealed tuners - 10mm, no longer cheapo trapezoid tuners on the new ones.....

The body is like 2/3 the thickness and like 3/4 the overall size of a regular Strat - small

No there is no space to add a 2nd tone knob.....A push pull might not fit in the cavity even....

To be honest, the Mini is not usually a modding platform, it's an entry level guitar mostly meant for smaller people, but adults can have fun with it too. Personally, I'd just maybe upgrade pickups and electronics, set it up right, and be done with it.....

if you want a real mod project, look for something like a full size full thickness bodied Squier SE Strat - made from 2000 to 2012 and usually pretty available on the used market.

Yeah, I'm a pretty small person so I'd prefer both a smaller neck and body, but if I had to choose one or the other I'd go for the neck. Those are some great suggestions for the future though, if I ever decide I want a size upgrade. I think I'll just go for upgrading the pickups and wiring then.

Does anyone have any kits they'd recommend? I'm a bit confused on how the kits for standard strats can be applied to the mini one, since a few of the diagrams I see have a lot presoldered already.
