Stopped by my local Guitar center today. Just out of curiosity, I messed around with the Boss Katana 50. Pretty nice , but just the onboard stuff isn’t enough to sway me, and I know for a fact I’d never be able to understand the download stuff, I’m computer stoopid. I’m staying with both tube amps until my guitar room is completed, I’m almost there. Then I’m sure I’ll upgrade one of the tube amps. The sound difference is just undeniable. I also test drove a beautiful stone blue PRS se silver sky, it’s the first time I ever saw or played one. Gotta be honest, it felt and sounded really good, fit and finish was very good. Hopefully no one will egg my house for this positive review, hopefully Ant won’t see this😂

You passed on the Katana for the same reason I did

Actually, the computer side of the Kantana is very easy to use... although I'm a computer oriented person, so there's that. BUT, it's really just effects and amplifier controls on the screen, tweak the knobs you turn with the mouse, and boom.

But I agree that the Kantana is not nearly flexible enough without using a computer. It has no way to access the myriad of features inside.

I have the full size Katana Artist 100watt combo (100/50/0.5)... It is serious kick a$$ amp, believe me! Yes, you have to jump through hoops, computer-wise, to access all the features, but that is where the Rabbit Hole starts and the fun begins! LOL...

Seriously... Pick a pedal. Anything. It's listed in BTS (Boss Tone Studio) on your laptop via USB cable. Tweak the settings to taste and click "Write". Ta-da... There ya go!

Bingo! I wanna play my guitar, not play-with-the-computer-to-play-with-an-amp-that-can't-give-me-the-tube-tone-I-crave.
I admit it: I'm addicted to tube amps. I need my fix every day...but it's a healthy addiction.

Tube amps are nice, that's why I like modeling where I get to chose from 30 different amps!

(Just ribbing you; Tube amps are cool; Everyone has their preferences for interfaces).

I did just order a Hughes and Kettner Grand Meister 40 Deluxe. They do have about a million possible settings but no computer needed. I really will probably use about 6 of them. HK tone is worth jumping through a few hoops
