Hey guys,

i just wanted to find out a little more about the history of my guitar, but i am not able to find anything about it on the internet, so i thought maybe one of you guys could help me out with some "knowledge".

I will post some pictures to this to get through. Thing is, there is serial on the back of the neck, P Series. But, what does CS Time Machine mean, and if its custom shop, why does it not have a CS logo?

Thank you in advance, best

Siggi

CS Time Machine guitar is one that was put in a Time Machine in some year or other and brought out today. That stamp is not something I've ever seen on any CS guitar ever. But that doesn't mean anything. Not enough information without seeing the neck and insides and stuff.

One problem, to me, is that a Time Machine guitar brought to us now would not be a two pickup Esquire. Them are much more modern. That doesn't mean anything either, but it is something to think about.

Where did you get it, and when?

Never seen that on the back of any Time Machine series custom shops. The fender esquire decal should also be on top of the finish if it’s USA made. Doesn’t look like it is on top.

Also the string tree screw isn’t original(it’s massive) and the bridge/pickguard fit is questionable for any CS esquire I’ve seen.

How long have you had it and any pics of the neck heel/neck pocket?

Thanks for all your replies. I got it from a guy close to Berlin in Germany last year. I needed a spare for a tour and i used it right away for every single show for the rest of the year because of the feel of it. Serial says Fujigen 1993. The guy told me a friend of his was a pilot and brought it to germany mid 90s when he flew a plane from tokyo to munich as a present.

Fujigen is a Japanese contractor Fender employed to make some of the Fender Japan guitars for many years. It's a totally separate organisation from Fender. A Fender Custom Shop guitar is one made in Fender's own Custom Shop in California.

Whatever it is that you have bought, it is NOT a Fender Custom Shop guitar,

Time Machine was the name given to a range of guitars produced by Fender's Custom Shop soon after 2000. If a contractor such as Fujigen have chosen to copy that name, it sounds to me like an attempt to defraud.

It was not my intention to tell someone that it is one, i tried to find out what it could be.

Not so much you but someone in its lifetime was. 04 of 04 time machines decal proves this. Unless there’s 3 more of these out in the world that are made in Japan. That explains the decal under the finish.

These guitars all usually have some wild story attached to them. It looks good but I’m pretty sure it’s a MIJ esquire. Still some routed and added a neck pickup unless it’s already got the route.
