Best known as an actress (Elisabeth was in The Handmaid's Tale and the AMC series Mad Men), Elisabeth Moss learned how to play the guitar for her role in the film Her Smell. Released in 2018, the movie portrays Elisabeth Moss as an ageing rock star who is trying to get her career back together after a series of personal unraveling. Her character is clearly modeled after Donita Sparks, the lead singer of the punk band L7, but I also see her character as having a Kim Gordon/Shirley Manson-like vibe. Moss did her own singing and guitar playing for the movie, and she plays a Fender through a Mesa Boogie amp. It's a pretty good movie, showcasing how a lot of rock stars fall through the cracks of stardom. The soundtrack is also pretty good: the surviving members of The Runaways even contributed to the soundtrack.
If you want to watch the full length movie, here is the trailer.
I must say, Elisabeth Moss actually does a pretty decent job playing guitar and singing in the film. She has a very smokey voice.
As for the guitar, not sure what kind of Fender it is, but it looks to be an offset Fender, specifically a Duo Sonic or Mustang. I don't think Elisabeth Moss ever owned this guitar herself: it may be a prop used specifically for the film.
But if anyone has info on this Fender please let me know.
