In my opinion, the classic vibes are probably one of the best deals around. They’ve been growing on me for a while now. Don’t really need another guitar right now, but am starting to think that if the right deal presents itself, I’ll be one more Strat richer

They're still offering them around $259. I think my wife bought mine when they had dropped (briefly) to $209. I haven't seen mine yet though :D

I've owned quite a few Squiers in past years, most of which got sold, traded, or modded extensively and then sold. But I always thought they were great guitars for the $'s. But in the recent past, I have run my "guitar stash" up to 38, which climbed very recently to that number because of Squier "special sales" that were in effect recently and difficult to ignore. I now have 5 Squiers and really like them. I also have some very high end guitars, USA Strats, etc., but I find the CV's to be an incredible value! I now have a 2004 Squier 51 (had this for a long time), a new 40th Anniversary Gold Edition, and 3 new CV-60's, one in metallic purple, one in 3 TSB (fitted with a MIM Player loaded HSS pickguard), and my latest, a Candy Apple Red model that I got for $209!! You just can't beat the value for the buck in these instruments IMHO. They are, simply, VERY nice instruments that are really encroaching on the MIM models!!

You really think it needs them? I don't use the trem either, but 3 springs seems to be holding it decked down pretty good. Just curious is all.
I just went through and played all my guitars (I only have 4) and the banjo.
Ibanez GSA60
Squier Bullet strat hard tail
Squier CV 60s strat CAR (saw the receipt. My wife paid $199... kind of amazing)
Cort SFX DAO acoustic

My favorite electric is definitely the CV 60s strat.

Just thought I'd share my thoughts (for anyone who is interested) on my Classic Vibe '60s Strat after having owned it for a month and a half now.

I bought the guitar brand new from Sweetwater, and recieved it on October 18th.

The guitar is good. Really good.

The only issues were that the tuning machines were sub par, but I swapped them out with some that I had lying around, and the cheap volume pot got scratchy, so I installed a Bournes 250K audio taper pot, and now there is nothing at all to complain about with this guitar.

The fit and finish are perfect, flawless, and the color is gorgeous. The pickups are, IMO, really good, and the hardware is just fine.

I love the neck, and the fretwork was great right out of the box. The only thing I will say about the frets is that I wouldn't mind if they were a bit bigger. The specs say "narrow tall frets", but they aren't very tall. They are very much in the vintage fret size neighborhood, which is not bad, just not my first choice. That being said, I have been playing this guitar a lot since I got it (almost exclusively), and I've gotten used to it, and it's not really an issue.

It's lighter weight than my other Strats (2 MIM Standards) and has a thicker, more beefy tone overall than the others. It also has plenty of sustain. No dead spots or weird resonance issues anywhere on the neck.

Anyway, IMO it's a great guitar, and definitely worth the money and then some.

I want to avoid having surprises when I press the palm of my hand on the bridge, I took the opportunity to slip pieces of foam under the springs to prevent them from vibrating and that it gets along at the through pickups
And it's in anticipation of moving it to 10-46

I'm also going to change the nut to a bone model, but I'm not equipped and I don't have the experience. It will be my luthier who will take care of it.
By cons I noticed that some screws that fix the bridge were not completely screwed?
Do I have to screw them all in if I don't use the vibrato ?

The 6 screws across the "front" (closest to the bridge pickup)?
I noticed on mine just today that the 2 outermost screws are screwed down tight and the rest are not. I kinda decided to leave them alone unless I hear otherwise since they don't seem to be affecting anything... yet. :D

Not a con. The bridge plate has a pivot surface and the screws being a bit loose permit tremolo use. For the plate to be "decked" the screws can't be screwed in as far as they will go. Adjust the spring tension, which impacts how flat the bridge plate lies on the guitar body by either adding springs or screwing the claw screws in deeper to increase (or opposite to decrease) tension.

Yeah the tuners on these are a weak point. When I was restringing my CV70 something inside the tuner snapped. The peghead and shaft just moved freely without biting to the post so I had to use a flathead screw driver in the post to tune that string😂

Spiffy. :)
I'm a total convert since I bought my CV 50's Tele.. and the only fault I've had with that is the jack plug. Needs changing, and will be changed.
Still? Did you get the Round Tuit I sent you for Christmas?

thank you for your reply

I will therefore tighten the screws flush with the plate so that it does not tilt because of the bevel.

I played all evening and I must say that it is very pleasant, the handle is a real highway and the soft touch. The action is low and with the upgrades I gained in precision and sustains.

I think the switch to 10-46 like most of my guitars but for once I like the 9-42 on this guitar .. So I hesitate

Maybe also change the tuners to Grover or Gotoh blocking from above on the headstock

I buy Cv’s and trick them out… locking tuners, pu’s, bridges, electronics, even ash tray cover for tele. Not that they need them. I guess my own cheapy custom shop jobs.

Jeez don’t be telling Fender it’s worth more then they’re selling it for. Their prices are high enough. Glad you’re enjoying the fit and finish and quickly addressed the few small issues you came across. I bought a used squire Jaguar 3/4 scale bass for a song and loved the neck and weight. I dropped in a vintage Fender Precision reissue pickup and a great jazz bass humbucker stack and switched the pots and knobs. It’s rock solid and plays and sounds phenomenally well. Total cost $325.00……. The Mexican and non American Fender products are great platforms for mods and upgrades. I’m always looking for NOS necks and parts for my builds and they can be found at the big guitar auctions once or twice a year.
PS love the color of your new baby. Enjoy.
