I had 3 CV Strats over the years ( Olympic White with Gold Scratchie, Sunburst and 60's CAR - the best CAR ive ever personally seen by the way, no one who saw that thing could believe the quality of that paint job), all pre 2018 and the shift out of China, i still feel these were the best of breed) and all were bloody good. As ive probably mentioned more than a few times, usually in threads where you get the trem snobs, the only thing i ever considered changing in any of mine, and only on the 1st, was the thin what looked like pot metal zinc block. Instead of knee jerk buying a GFS or worse Callaham trem because id been conditioned by the trem snobs in several CV threads that i read through before buying the 1st one, that i must do so. Instead just played it, and saved myself the drama, import taxes and list prices of 3rd party trems. Love them for what they are, a bloody good guitar.

Worth mentioning the only Tele i ever bought was also a pre-2018 CV 50's Butter, and it had the worst setup and was the worst guitar ive ever owned, i think i lasted 3 days with it before it went back to whence it came, there was clearly no room to fix it, the action was ridiculous, the saddles at max height and there was a ski jump at the neck heel. That guitar was a problem, and someone elses, not mine....it scarred me for Teles, and sadly i only Bruce'd it (played Born To Run) once on it before it went back....

So yeah i dont buy stuff on recommendation of thread elites, unless theyre named Norm (@Electgumbo) and theres the words DemonFX and Dual Gun in the title - then its automatic :)

CVs are one of the best values in guitars, I think. If "Fender" were on the headstock instead of Squier, they would easily charge twice as much, and I doubt anyone would complain.

@stylemessiah I have a non-CV Squier standard strat with the thin zinc trem block. I changed it out for a heavier stock fender block - and the sound went wonky. The sustain was all wrong, notes felt funny, and it didn't sound nearly as good. I switched in the original and never looked back. Sometimes it's more about what works with a particular guitar than "better" just for the sake of "better." Just thought I'd share that in case it helps anyone avoid an unnecessary upgrade! "Play before you pay!" lol

Beautiful guitar!! CV's are really a great line of guitars. I own one single coil guitar and it's a CV 50's Tele. Great guitar.
Yeah I really like the 50’s tele ….the 60’s strat , through owning two different ones ,didn’t do it for me ….I tried to like it (them ) but couldn’t get tones I use to get out of my 2012 standard no matter how I tweaked the amps(s) / pedals . But other wise I do agree with the review of this post .. mostly

I just bought the exact same model because Pro Audio had a huge sale (I think it’s still ongoing?) for only $250! I figured for that price what’s to lose? Man, did I luck out. I freakin’ love this guitar. I didn’t like the tiny pot metal trem block so I tried something I’ve always wanted to do and put in a solid brass one from Musiclily and, on a whim, some solid brass saddles just to see what they would do. I really couldn’t be happier. LPB has always been my favorite color. I added some relief to the neck and adjusted the action to 5/64 and now I’m in love (again). Squier is killing it these days with this CV line.

Just thought I'd share my thoughts (for anyone who is interested) on my Classic Vibe '60s Strat after having owned it for a month and a half now.

I bought the guitar brand new from Sweetwater, and recieved it on October 18th.

The guitar is good. Really good.

The only issues were that the tuning machines were sub par, but I swapped them out with some that I had lying around, and the cheap volume pot got scratchy, so I installed a Bournes 250K audio taper pot, and now there is nothing at all to complain about with this guitar.

The fit and finish are perfect, flawless, and the color is gorgeous. The pickups are, IMO, really good, and the hardware is just fine.

I love the neck, and the fretwork was great right out of the box. The only thing I will say about the frets is that I wouldn't mind if they were a bit bigger. The specs say "narrow tall frets", but they aren't very tall. They are very much in the vintage fret size neighborhood, which is not bad, just not my first choice. That being said, I have been playing this guitar a lot since I got it (almost exclusively), and I've gotten used to it, and it's not really an issue.

It's lighter weight than my other Strats (2 MIM Standards) and has a thicker, more beefy tone overall than the others. It also has plenty of sustain. No dead spots or weird resonance issues anywhere on the neck.

Anyway, IMO it's a great guitar, and definitely worth the money and then some.

I have a pink one, made in Indonesia. Great player and sounds nice. My only niggles are that I'm not keen on the neck dots (would prefer plain ones) and the finish has a couple of dodgy patches. I also had to polish the frets, they were a little rough out of the cardboard box. Absolute bargain for what it cost. I'm happy with the tuners, and no problems with the pots so far.

I wonder if the Nato wood body of some newer CV's helps it sound different from the MIM's you have. I would guess the MIMs might be alder (which of course varies from piece to piece, too)
I have several LP imports that are likely nato bodied, rather than the "mahogany" advertized, and they are light weighing, and sound warm to me. I really like them. I do not have a nato bodied strat, however.

Did a little more research and according to one website the Indonesian CV's use pine, nato, and alder depending on which series, 50's, 60's, or 70's you have. That's internet fact, though, so take it for what it's worth.

You said it all regarding Classic Vibes as far as I'm concerned @Ebidis ... I'm a total convert since I bought my CV 50's Tele.. and the only fault I've had with that is the jack plug. Needs changing, and will be changed.

I'm actually very excited about a NGD coming up when I return to England for Christmas.. and that's this beauty.. an unused 2008 Classic Vibe Duo-Sonic. I haven't had a GAS for years, but everyone's allowed a burp occasionally aren't they..

+1! Same issue with the jack, but it's an easy fix. I'm very impressed with the neck on my 2009 50's CV strat. Very close to my favorite '59 roundback Warmoths in profile. I've leveled frets on several necks but this just doesn't need it, which is rare. I believe the frets are medium jumbos. Weight 6 lbs 14 oz.

hello,
She looks great in this finish!

can you put a link of the models of bridges that you changed?
As well as the link for the Musiclily brass weight because there are several models?
thank you
Here is mine CV 60 candy apple
it is really well finished and very pleasant to play
the neck and the frets are nickel
I may be going to mount standard US 98 pickups that will be given to me..

Here's the link to the brass block. It fits the bridge perfectly BUT I don't use the trem arm and those holes do not line up. If that's also the case for you then it should work perfectly.

And here's a link to the brass saddles I bought on Amazon.

She's a beauty!

ok thanks for the links and explanations 👍

I'm going to mount a second pickguard to install the US standard 98 pickups that we're going to give it.
I think I'll take one of these..
I already have the black metal buttons
the microphone covers will be cream or black

Thank you for your advice and here are the little upgrades to my CV.
So I changed the block, the vibrato hole unfortunately does not fall completely in front and it's a shame because the action is not limited compared to the old block.
After as I have already said I never use the vibrato so for me and those who do not use it is not a problem, for the rest of the holes / screws it's pil hair and what to say when we compare the two blocks, the original one and the upgrade, it's up to you but there is no photo: mrgreen:
Original block = 129 gr vs Brass block = 320 gr
I also mounted the new brass saddles
Here are some pictures of the operation
PS: I had to reuse the 3 original screws for fixing the block because the 3 countersunk screws provided protruded a little because they were too big. This risked interfering with the movement of the jumpers.
