I get that - and your collection is beautiful. I just don’t get the mystique around having an instrument that looks like it was just pulled out of a dumpster

Same as it’s been the other 1,000,000,000,000 times this was posted in a relic thread, it’s a finish option, just like color. I for instance dislike black, Olympic white and three tone sunburst Strats but I don’t wonder over why others like them.

The guitars in your post @Stratoskater don't even appear worn.

I think the observation was why do people pay Fender so much for a worn guitsr - besides of course the quality components.

Because they like the way it looks and the way it feels.

I have relics because I like the feel of my old worn in guitars. Every new Gibson or fender I bought I didn’t like and wouldn’t play because of the way it feels.

I bought a relic and they feel great. Boom. Problem solved.

I personally use sand paper instead of toilet paper. It just, somehow, feels better to me

Ok I admit some of those fenders look amazing. Not 3k to 4k amazing but yeah lookin good. Love the flamey neck. I get my flamey necks from warmoth.

There are support groups available to help deal with the abuse.

No offense pal, but that thing sounds like it was dragged across somebody's shop floor or something

It sounds rubbish! I think it’s because of the poly finish being too thick! I shall drag it around the shop floor some more until the lacquer becomes transparent! That will allow the tone-wood to breathe!

Here is a proper recording done on my Egnater Tweaker into Jensen Blackbird 12” cab. Mic into DAW. No post EQ.
Try and guess which is the Harley Benton with 51 Nocaster pickups. The other two guitars are Fender Vintera 50’s Mod Tele with stock Twisted-Broadcaster pups, and Fender partcaster Tele with Lollar Special T.
