I put a coat of turtle wax on the back of the neck, slick as can be.

The best bang for your buck, imo.

I have one from an earlier release.

The neck is to die for. The most stable neck I have ever come across.
Absolutely nothing wrong with the fat 50s either.

I put a coat of turtle wax on the back of the neck, slick as can be.

So bummed! Got the guitar (direct from Fender) and the neck is shifted to the right, enough so the high E string was at the edge of the fret near the neck pickup. Tech support asked me to loosen the bolts and reposition, but the neck wouldn't move anywhere near enough. Looking at an exchange. :(

Final inspection should have caught that. But, having played a lot of Players "off the shelf" in the last couple years, I've seen some fantastic setups and some really poorly done. But that applies to most makers these days until you get into the higher priced realm, I believe.
