Antigua

Haven't seen an Antigua thread for a while. I'm thinking about trading a couple of my lower end guitars for this 2014 Mexican FSR Strat tomorrow. I have less than $500 in the ones I'm trading and the seller is asking $800. I know very few here (or anywhere) like them but I dig it. The purple chair doesn't help lol.

I'll be honest, I'm not buying... maybe picture doesn't make it justice...

The burst pickguard looks odd to me and the greenish color seems a bit grey...

But hey, if you like it ... go for it !

Those photos seem pretty washed out. Here’s another pic from his listing. I’m guessing the truth is somewhere in the middle. I’m still debating as I really like the two guitars I offered in trade I just don’t play them very often.

Another consideration is I already have four killer Stratocaster‘s, and the Ron Kirn I sold is coming back to me because of buyers’ remorse.

Not a fan of antigua finishes but I'm rocking a sparkle-colored guitar so my tastes are questionable at best anyway...

I always liked the antigua finish, but I never had the chance to grab one.
It wasn't untill the internet got big that I realized so many players didn't like them.

I can see how it could grow on you. If you think of it as an Olympic white burst, it starts to seem kind of cool.

I think the purple chair looks great and works nicely with the guitar… if I was that guitar I’d make the purple chair follow me wherever I went in order to help me live my best life.

I love mine and it sounds fat after I did the mod putting mid pu in series with neck or bridge pickup with 2nd tone pot mixing in from 0 to full.
Here's a pic I made a few minutes before.

Not easy matching the color exactly but this comes close.
Fender made 450 of those in total.

About 4 years ago I missed out on a 70s USA model for $800 at Sam Ash. Didn't have the $$$ at the time.
