Thank you! This one was a challenge and I couldn't have done it without help. I wanted to put together a Hendrix Rosewood Strat Tribute but not an exact clone.

I wanted a mix of old and new. The rosewood body and neck came from a Reverb seller: https://reverb.com/shop/guitarbuild. The tuners are vintage F tuners from the 1970. Earvana nut, all Fender plastics, Calaham bridge, vintage 70s Fender neck plate (I need one from '69 or '70 but they're pretty expensive. Maybe for Xmas.), vintage jack plate, Fender Custom Shop '69 Stratocaster pickups, Mojotone solderless electronics, Schaller strap locks, nitrocellulose finish, Fender Custom Shop case and case candy (including Fender Custom shop polish cloth, tool kit, guitar cord, & bridge cover) and a custom headstock decal that lets anyone know it's not a Fender guitar. I just noticed, I forgot to install string trees!

It took years to complete. I thought I was going to have to scrap the project. I tried to do a French polish with shellac but rosewood is very oily. My finish guy shot it and my luthier guy made sure everything lined up. I did the final assembly and setup. I think I have around $2500 in it. It's the first and last rosewood guitar I ever do, lol. It weighs over 11 pounds.

That’s quite an expensive project! My strat project was about $1600 all told, but that’s because I got the neck used. Would have been $2k with the neck custom ordered, but getting it used was an advantage as I could see the final product. But that’s still a hell of a deal, consider you aren’t getting flame maple/Brazilian rosewood on a production fender for 2k!!

I am wondering… could you have just left the rosewood neck unfinished? And body? It is rosewood after all and boards are left unfinished.

I think a solid rosewood neck would be quite cool and I’d like it unfinished! If possible….. I think the body idea is cool too, but that weight is a bit much

A very cool guitar you made and very unique.

My project also took a long time because I wanted a 1:1 replica of a 62 strat but it didn’t work out that way but I got something I think is better.

It took a long time because I wanted Brazilian rosewood to be period accurate, along with clay dots. But when the neck finally came up, it had flame maple so it’ll never look like a real 60s strat.

But what I got is virtually identical to a fender CS reissue, looking similar to journeyman relics and masterbuilt and of similar spec. But there are some differences and body is production fender

I took a shortcut on the body, getting a loaded AO 50s to save time. But someday I’ll go back and make my own loaded body and finish it just right… or start a new project and get that 1:1 replica at it

anyone can make a perfect replica of a 60s strat if they throw enough money at it. Only wait is the lead times for parts. But mine took a while since I wanted to save money and not shell out too much especially where the neck is concerned. Brazilian rosewood is cool but I’d rather not spend twice as much on it and then get an ugly piece!

Is your first strat on the left an AO 50s body with a 60s style neck? That’s what mine is

I’m wondering because that’s what mine is, and it also has that super dark 2ts finish with the single ply guard.

Great minds think alike?

edit just noticed that it has 2 post trem so not AO.. maybe a vintera? Otherwise looks just the same as my AO body
that is a Strat Plus Deluxe 1990. It has had the electronics swapped and a regular Fender two point bridge instead of the original. Though that was just an experiment the old bridge is back on now. Oh yeah the color is actually called Crimson Frost

My bury-me-with-it FCS '57 w Jimmy Vaughn/Eric Johnson wired Fat 50 "Abby" wound-on-my-birthday PUPs :D:thumb: (how does that happen?)

Behind it, my SS, had to do it :sneaky:, with a modified 10" radius  and Spitfire guard. It's actually the first one that I actually bonded with and plays spectacular. Can only keep one tho (house management intervention). The SS is now a house guest. (No, I don't think the SS is a "Strat" LOL)

Your partscaster has filled me with GAS. I used to have a Billy Corgan Strat that I miss dearly… nitro finish, unbelievable neck. View attachment 634495

This is my only Stratocaster right now. As much as I miss having a hardtail, I do love the sound of a traditional Strat. The springs give it a natural reverb even when unplugged. I love strumming a chord and putting the trem cavity next to my ear. It’s lovely.

That is a very good looking uncommon color combo. Love it!

One of the reasons I sold the Corgan was because I couldn’t get over the fact that it had the same color scheme as the cheapest Squiers. Black and white was just too boring eventually. I wanted something unique.

The American Performer has a similar neck; I wanted the big headstock again and jumbo frets. And the satin poly is very smooth. I love sparkle finishes, it just ticked all the boxes!

1972 Strat, very modded and a delicious MJT/Musikraft partscaster with a brazilian rosewood board. Kleins in both - 69s in the '72 and 65s in the parts monster. I love them both equally and they are very different. The black one is pretty and bluesy sounding with soft mids, the '72 is a rock machine with strong mids.

your partscaster looks a LOT like my Carvin! We have similar taste in that way.
