ibanez m340 made from 78 to 81- nice guitar. i have one, but mine has the rosewood borad... maple back and sides though...

i strongly doubt the fretboard material changes the sound much, but maple bodied acoustic guitars do sound different from others... I like that difference a lot. Brighter, with a quality that's almost like those glass bowls with different amounts of water to give different notes...

When I swapped out the fretboard of my 4 string Ovation Bass, I put in a maple board, just because I could.

Thanks! Yeah, I think it sounds great. I have the 5 string version too, but it features the factory rosewood board. I think the 4 string is a little brighter, likely due to the fretboard.
