Yes I got my hopes up the 65 existed because supposedly it had a thicker neck... Fuzzfaced listed very specific dates for the 65 which is what got me thinking about it

According to fuzzfaced the ‘65 AV was available in Sherwood Green for select years. See here under “Colors” section. I can’t find a single image or reference to this color existing…. Any ideas?

trying to look at it objectively now, I would say the easiest way to describe the shape is slightly harder/sharper edges.

Drove down to the big store today they had an AVII 57 in stock. Loved the thick neck shape, pickups sound incredible, but wasn’t overall blown away. Neck tint is a bit yellow for my taste and they got the laquer on the fret ends and nut, not sure if that’s period correct or just sloppy. nice...

That’s true maybe the 65 neck isn’t really that thick either, I’ll have to measure my Corona but I don’t have a super accurate caliper

When fender moved to the Corona plant the reissue became slightly “blockier” - now personally I find this 57 to be more acoustically resonant than my previous strat, almost like my tele but not really to the same degree. it feels like the shape could be part of it but it’s could be a placebo...

I love buying and selling, and I try not to keep more than a few guitars at a time. And FYI I equally enjoy rosewood and maple fingerboards so that’s really not a major factor or here. Quality, neck shape, playability, vibe/mojo, and “history” have become more important to me. I have an ‘89...
