Rode Hard and Put Away Wet

I bought this Strat in London in 1979. Played it in every band I was in right up to 2004, when I sold it!

    Any soloing ideas ?

Thanks! I'm playing straight into my computer through an interface, then I'm using a plugin from Neural DSP to give me cleanish amp sound with delay and reverb.

    Any soloing ideas ?

@Stratafied - Here's my take on it. My aim.....to play simple ideas, repeat those ideas and refer back to them. I tried to slowly build the intensity of what I played to a crescendo, then slowly let it drop. A lovely hypnotic backing track. Thanks for sharing. This was a single take, and the...

Are you happy with your playing skills?

I'm always working on something. Some aspect of my playing. Learning new things is part of the fun for me. I've only been playing......50 years.

Open Improv Invite #72 - Acoustic Groove in D Minor

Thanks for the fun @IsaiasO Here's my go at it. I took Tom's first lick from his solo at the end of the video and used that as a motif. I thought this would help me to not play the same licks I usually do.

    Sitar sounds

I thought it was because sitars had other strings that vibrated in harmony with the ones being plucked. Just googled it...... A sitar can have 18, 19, 20, or 21 strings; 6 or 7 of these run over curved, raised frets and are played strings; the remainder are sympathetic strings (tarb, also known...

Open Improv Invite #70 - Seductive Groove Backing Track in E Minor

Thanks for that Alan. Much appreciated and very interesting. You must have great ears/feel because it sounds to me like you are playing the changes rather than skating. With some of the BTs I need quite a few listens. Sometimes I pull down the chords. Some come easily and quick others don't...

Awesome! Beautifully played, and top notch vid. These things take time, and you are always so quick off the mark. How’s it done? What’s your approach? Have you been down to the crossroads at midnight?
