How to get that kind of Cray Strat Sound?

He's always been one of my faves. Fantastic voice, guitar playing and also songwriting, as Dogletnoir's video post above demonstrates.

    NNND!

HNND! It looks fantastic on that faded Sonic Blue- one of my favorite combos! Loving the brownface Princeton, too- bet there's lotsa great tone going on at your house!

Played my first vintage Strat today, a 59 refinish

There are some wonderful old guitars out there that have "mojo," or whatever you want to call it. I have owned some over the years and still managed to hold on to two examples, one refinished and one original. Since finish, at least on the neck, does affect playablitity and "feel," the guitar...

The long and winding road to a NGD - American Pro II

HNGD! That looks great! And if you love it unplugged, I'm betting that you'll REALLY love it plugged in and cranked up! We are patiently waiting for your verdict...

Sounds like a great instrument! Play it and see if the action, sound, and overall aesthetic is to your liking. If not, ask folks here on the forum for advice before you sell it. Often some simple adjustments, like lowering your pickup height, can make big differences in the tone. And don't...

    Jeff Beck's Sense of Fashion......,

Jeff was a well-known hot-rod enthusiast, good chance he literally DID go straight to the gig from the garage!

Why own more than one strat?

    All of the above answers!

    Late NGD

HNGD! It looks terrific as is, but certainly you need to make it the way you want it. That's one of the great tings about a strat, easy to modify! Enjoy!!!

NGD - Olympic White 60s Vintera modified

HNGD! Love that look! Next time I’m in the market for another Strat, I’m going to seriously look at a guitar like that. It sounds like you’ve dialed in the sound and action that you want. Now go play that thing!

    NGD AVII ‘61 fiesta red

Thanks, it is a refin so the finish is only slightly naturally “reliced.” But that’s just fine by me, because it plays and sounds great and inspires me.

    Pre-CBS tuners without a slot??

I do not think those non-slotted tuners are original to your guitar. My 1961 has one non-slotted post, and I can tell it is a replacement. I have considered replacing it with the "correct" tuner but I just haven't done it yet.

1965 Fender Stratocaster AMAZING Sounds !

Terrific playing, man! And Happy New Guitar Day! That looks like a great guitar. So glad you have found a guitar that you bond with and that sounds so sweet. And I agree with what many others said here

    NGD AVII ‘61 fiesta red

HNGD! I love that color AND the dark rosewood neck! In fact, the first really nice Strat I ever got was a Fiesta Red 1961. I still love it. Your guitars looks every bit as special, and I hope it brings you as much happiness and inspiration as mine has given me for the last 30 years. Now… go...

    RIP Jeff Beck

Terrible news. Hard to believe he is gone. Listening to “Blow By Blow,” the first album of his that I bought. Still as impressive and mind blowing as it was then.

Welcome to Strat-Talk! Great looking strat there, olympic white, rosewood board, mint guard. Very popular around here. Hope you can get lots of info, maybe some inspiration and more than a few chuckles here. :thumb:

All I Can Do - Sean Costello

I discovered Sean's music years ago, but unfortunately never got to see him play. He was indeed terrifically gifted, very soulful in his vocals and his fantastic guitar work. His songwriting was also terrific. I encourage all blues and soul music lovers to check him out. Very nice rendition...

NGD: AV '59 Faded Sonic Blue

Killer guitar! Love a Sonic Blue w/RW board. I'm plenty jealous now, and fighting a bad case of GAS for that guitar. Go play and enjoy that beauty all weekend!

Yes, I hear it all the time when it’s quiet. And I know I have a lot of hearing loss too (just ask my wife 😉).

Strange 1963 strat green undercoat. Is that a fullerplast?

If time allows you could have it checked out by a vintage dealer/expert. George Gruhn in Nashville is probably the foremost authority on vintage guitars and could look it over for you. Of course there are other experts as well. Maybe some other members can suggest someone closer to you if...
