The cases for the SG are sort of in between hard and soft. I think they call it a firm soft case or something like that. It’s stiffer and hold its shape with lots of padding compared to a normal soft case. I won’t need one anyway. I have a hard case for my Les Paul, and I’ll never take them...
I think the OP meant that after he read the replies, he started to realize that he didn’t care about all that other stuff. He thought he cared, but then learned something about himself.
So, two things, Yesterday, I found the same model 2021 for sale on Reverb for local pick up only (and I’m local) for $900 without the case or case candy. I checked it out, and it is so identical, even the same grain (or sort of lack of any definable grain), about the same weight, same condition...
I just read the specs. Why didn’t I see these sooner? Every spec is perfect. The fat neck with flatter rosewood fretboard, bound neck. No backplate with lots of springs. Cool neckplate. Vintage hardware. Nice color choices. Pearloid dots would be the only little detail I’d like to add. If you...
I’m fine with it now. I loosened the strings to see how high the stop bar could go before the screws came out. You can actually raise it until the stop bar is just above the saddles. So in that respect the height I have is safe. I took it to a luthier, and he said it looks normal for an SG and...
I like the idea of top wrapping, but don’t you think a guitar should be able to have the option of not top wrapping? For what it’s worth, check out my Les Paul. Stop bar all the way down to the body, action at about 3/64 and 5/64, and not even close to touching the back of the bridge. Maybe I...
I wouldn’t mind top wrapping for fun, but the thought of having to top wrap to solve an issue on a brand new Gibson doesn’t feel good. I’d like to know that I got a good one that I can top wrap if I want to but don’t have to.
Yes. Well, Open Box. Bought on eBay. The individual said he was selling a bunch for a friend who has a guitar shop, so the seller isn’t actually a dealer. Just arrived yesterday.
I just got this SG, and noticed the strings were touching the back of the bridge. Here is how high I had to put the tail piece to keep the strings from touching the bridge. Plus, I am going to need to get the nut slots filed lower, which will cause me to have to raise the bridge higher, which...
I guess the lighter an SG is the more neck dive. This one is reportedly 6.25 lbs. but I haven’t weighed it myself, and it has big time neck dive. I was thinking of attaching the strap at the nut/headstock, like on an acoustic. Has anyone tried that on an SG?
I’ve been itching to get an SG and pulled the trigger on this one from eBay, Open Box so about $350 less than usual, with the case and all the case candy, shipped in the original Gibson box. I think I need to get the nut slots filed down a little lower, but fantastic other than that. The Beatles...
It might be I little unethical, but I would buy a new one, and use the receipt to return that one. It’s only fair. That kettle should rightfully last longer than it has for the price.
