    Why flip a Strat headstock?

Because Jimi Hendrix did it. It also reverses string tension. This way it's easier to bend high E and B

    What Have I Just Done???

Oh, I believe that that the moment of "weakens" got Jimmie's fans even more pumped up, but yes, tremolo or not, having a back up guitar is a must.

    What Have I Just Done???

A correctly set up strat does stay in tune with a floating bridge. Doing dive bombs would probably be taking it a bit too far but anything less aggressive will work just fine. A floating bridge opens infinite possibilities. I don't understand how an artist worth his salt can forfeit it. I know...

Excluding Medical Issues, What Is This Thing With Weight?

This is factually wrong and and contradicts science. Resonance of wood doesn't die. Natural vibration frequencies do change as weight and structure change, but they don't go anywhere. In fact enhancing and preserving resonance had been a critical part of luthier skills for centuries. Guitars...

    10.5 gauge strings?

When I tried 9s it felt like liberation. My playing improved dramatically because it was so much easier. This made a much greater difference than whatever sonic difference thre is between different string gages. My preferred strings now are 9 - 46 bullets. Just saying. BB King played 8s, Billy...

American Special or something similar? Help identifying my new guitar...

Strange, my Special is 2012 which is the year when Hwy 1 was discontinued and it has no Hwy 1 sticker. Should be the other way around.

American Special or something similar? Help identifying my new guitar...

Looks legit except for the bridge pick-up and the paint job. My Special looks very different compared to yours though, but it's a 2012 version, so something to be expected:

American Professional II Strat back to GC

Exactly the same thing happened with me. The Am Pro 2 I bought just didn't feel like it was worth the money. It also sounded thin. Took it back to the store. Tried another 3 but none was better than the first one. Got an American special instead. Feels and plays better for less money.

    Decking a Strat bridge plate

Oh, never mind, baby, deck your guitars all yo want. I get it, Clapton did it. Good luck to you with that. Sorry for interfering.

    Decking a Strat bridge plate

The proper procedure is not to deck the bridge. It does compromise the tone and doesn't improve the sustain. If you have tuning problems it means that your guitar is in need of a set up. A properly set up strat should stay in tune with floating bridge. I know because mine does. If you want to...

    Most overrated strat guitarists...

@ hexnut - what are you laughing at?

    Most overrated strat guitarists...

There is a lot more to guitar playing than just technicality. It's more about how you feel what you are playing and what sounds you chose to play. I saw many people who could move their fingers more accurately and faster than Hendrix, but they never sounded better, by far. Hendrix is more like...

    All Big-Head Fender Stratocaster Models

Surprised nobody mentioned Robin Trower signature yet. Oh, it's artist series, which had been mentioned already.

    Ash, alder, mahogany.

In general, I understand what you are implying. At natural vibration frequencies vibrating systems have the least amount of damping (mechanical impedance) which leads to increased wave amplitude, no extra energy needed, but why amplitude increases over time then? It shouldn't happen if we are...

    Ash, alder, mahogany.

No, you don't understand what it is. Thank god you don't design the actual bridges. With your current approach you would fail spectacularly. Admittance doesn't characterize or takes into account natural vibration frequencies. Therefore it is irrelevant for solving resonance problems. To be able...
